Abstract

|
This paper has inquired the concept of retirement income adequacy, its evaluation indices, and Estimation methods based on research in our country. Estimated targeted replacement rate was around 62~89% in our country. Even though it is hard to compare estimation results each other, its range may be too wide. Thus establishing more relevant and consistent estimation method is very important for retirement income policy making and evaluation. What we know from the controversy about replacement rate estimation method of social security benefits in the US is that replacement
rate is estimated on the basis of the life-cycle theory. Therefore it is necessary to develop much more sophisticated estimation model, which can take into account change of economy, population, and institution. Moreover, in the sense that there a lot of estimation methods for replacement rate, our country has to launch the independent advisory board in regular basis for addressing the issues related to it as soon as possible.
